Breathe - Felicity Bates Art
Description
Original Australian artwork by Felicity Bates
Breathe was inspired by a local Tuggerah Lakes scene just after flooding, when the familiar landscape had been transformed and the boat ramp was completely submerged beneath the water.
Despite the aftermath of the flood, the scene remained remarkably calm. Pelicans and other birdlife continued quietly through the landscape, creating a powerful contrast between the disruption of the weather and the tranquillity that followed.
For Felicity, the goal of this painting was to capture more than a place — it was to capture a feeling. Breathe invites the viewer to pause, slow down and take a moment to simply be present.
Soft light, gentle movement across the water and the peaceful wildlife give the work a reflective quality, making it a beautiful statement piece for anyone drawn to coastal landscapes, local stories and artwork that brings a sense of calm into the home.
Breathe was also submitted into the Gosford Art Prize 2026, marking an important chapter in Felicity’s creative journey.
This original artwork is supplied with a Certificate of Authenticity.
