Recovery, Gratitude and a Pause in Motion

There are some updates you never quite imagine having to share, and this is one of them.

On Tuesday 31 March at around 2pm, Jeff was involved in a serious motorcycle accident while out exploring the Central Coast on a day away from the gallery. In a split-second decision to avoid an oncoming vehicle, the bike left the road and came down heavily, leaving him with multiple injuries including broken ribs, shoulder, pelvis and cervical fractures.

After time in ICU, Jeff is now in the ward at John Hunter Hospital and beginning what will be a long road of recovery and rehabilitation.

While the accident itself was deeply frightening, what has stood out just as strongly in the days since has been the incredible kindness of people. From those first on scene, to emergency services, paramedics, hospital staff, and the many messages and check-ins received by both Jeff and Cass — the care, support and genuine concern have meant more than words can properly express.

Right now, recovery is the priority.

As a result, Jeff’s photography workshops and PhotoWalks are postponed for the time being, covering April and May at minimum, with June still uncertain at this stage. Jeff will also be away from the gallery for some time while he works through the physical challenges of healing, mobility and access.

Even so, this is not the end of anything — simply a pause.

Jeff’s connection to photography, light, landscape and storytelling remains as strong as ever, and that passion will still be part of the journey ahead. For those who know Jeff’s work, you’ll know that resilience, perspective and a deep appreciation for the world around us have always been woven into what he creates. In many ways, this moment only reinforces that.

We know many in our community will want to reach out, and every kind word is sincerely appreciated.

For now, we thank everyone who has supported Jeff and Cass through these past days, and we look ahead with hope, patience and determination for the recovery to come.

There is still plenty of light ahead.

If you would like to follow along with Jeff’s recovery and creative journey, keep an eye on our updates and social pages as we share more in the weeks ahead.
