"Looming Over the Lowlands"

One of my favourite Australian impressionist artists is Arthur Streeton. I am fortunate enough to live not far from the site of one of his most well known paintings “The Purple Noon’s Transparent Night”. In early 1896 Streeton travelled to the upper reaches of the Hawkesbury River, between Richmond Bridge and Windsor, where he was inspired by the expansive view looking towards the Blue Mountains.

Today this location is known as “Streeton Lookout” and there are fabulous views to be had in all weather conditions here, especially when a storm is looming over the Richmond Lowlands!

This original acrylic painting has been hand painted onto 3mm MDF board and comes framed in a golden wood frame.
