📖 The Story Behind the Shot

Jenny Dixon Beach is one of those locations that continually surprises me. While many people visit for the beach itself, I am often drawn to the rock platforms that emerge at low tide, revealing a landscape full of texture, colour, and character.

On this particular morning, the conditions aligned perfectly. The rock shelves were covered in vibrant green algae, creating an incredible foreground that immediately caught my attention. Pools of water left behind by the receding tide reflected the soft dawn light, while the ocean beyond rolled steadily towards shore.

What elevated the scene was the wave.

As it approached, sunlight filtered through the face of the swell, transforming it into a glowing band of emerald green. For a brief moment, the colours of the wave mirrored the colours of the shoreline, creating a visual connection between the ocean and the land.
