Some mornings unfold exactly as expected. Others deliver something completely unexpected.

On this particular sunrise at Koolewong, smoke haze hanging in the atmosphere dramatically altered the quality of the light. Instead of the usual mix of colours that often accompanies dawn, the entire landscape was immersed in rich golden and orange tones.

As the sun climbed above the horizon, the calm waters of Brisbane Water reflected the glowing sky, creating a near-monochromatic scene filled with warmth and atmosphere. The small wharf structure, silhouetted against the light, immediately became the focal point of the composition.
